PETRONAS Lubricants Goes Super2 Racing with Blanchard Racing

Aaron Love's maiden season for the Blanchard Racing Team will come under the PETRONAS Lubricants banner.

Aaron Love’s maiden season for the Blanchard Racing Team (BRT) in the Supercars Super2 Series will come under the PETRONAS Lubricants banner, a brand synonymous with on-track success.

Since 2018, CoolDrive Auto Parts has partnered with PETRONAS Lubricants to supply leading products to the workshops of Australia, with the full range encompassing a diverse vehicle coverage and various pack sizes.

The PETRONAS Syntium offering leverages 28 years of technical experience earned in Formula One, culminating in the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team claiming a remarkable eight constructor’s titles and seven driver’s championships since 2014. According to the company, PETRONAS Syntium with CoolTech+ technology maximizes efficiency by controlling engine-damaging heat in order to better protect the engine’s critical parts, lowers fuel consumption and emissions for cleaner, more sustainable motoring.

A product of Formula 4 and the Porsche Motorsport ladder, Love meanwhile proved to be a revelation in the 2022 Australian Carrera Cup, finishing second in the final standings with 12 wins from 17 races, despite missing two events with conflicting race commitments overseas.

Love will drive the Ford Mustang that BRT has utilized over the past two seasons in the top tier of the sport. However, the unveiling of the hot new livery brings his Supercars debut one step closer, he says. “I’m really excited about the season kicking off soon and it’s definitely going to be a year where we’re all going to put in 110 percent,” said Love.

“We’re running a new car for Super2 and the field has a lot of depth with many of the drivers holding a good amount of experience in these cars already so it will be tough, but with BRT being the team that is, I know that we are well prepared.

“Having PETRONAS Lubricants’ support for the year is definitely a pleasure and really cool thing for the team and myself, especially when we know its history and the success it has had internationally in motorsport,” Love added.

The PETRONAS Lubricants livery is reminiscent of the hues carried by BRT co-principal Tim Blanchard during wildcard appearances in the 2019 Supercars Championship.

“We are thrilled to welcome Aaron and PETRONAS Lubricants to BRT for 2023. We are excited to be launching our Super 2 program with a rising star in Aaron, supported by a well-known brand such as PETRONAS Lubricants. This is an important step for BRT and we are looking forward to what we can achieve this year,” said Blanchard.

For PETRONAS Lubricants, the decision to partner with a rising star such as Love was easy.

“PETRONAS Lubricants is genuinely excited to participate in the Super2 season as a naming sponsor on the BRT Racing Super2 car. This involvement with the Supercars series in Australia is a natural progression of the long term involvement that PETRONAS Lubricants has had with motor racing across the world. Having a great young driver like Aaron Love onboard is great and we are confident he will carry his success in the Carrerra Cup in 2022 to the Super2 series this year.,” said Amarpreet Singh Ahuja, CEO for PETRONAS Lubricants International Australia Pty Ltd.

The Super2 season kicks off at the Newcastle 500 from March 10-12, before travelling west to Perth, then Townsville, Sandown, Bathurst and Adelaide.

The offseason has been a busy one for the entire BRT, with the squad not only expanding to two cars, but also taking on the inhouse build of the team’s first Gen3 Ford Mustang.

The new build was recently debuted by Blanchard and the team’s other 2023 recruit Todd Hazelwood at Winton Motor Raceway, making it the first of the fresh fleet of 25 cars to hit the track.
